Sitdowns With Startups Episode 6: Vsnap

In an effort to bring a more personalized and humanized approach to their online interactions, more and more people are turning to video as their preferred communication medium. 2011 MassChallenge finalist Vsnap is seeking to provide individuals and businesses alike with a simple platform through which to create and distribute videos. As Co-Founder & CEO Dave McLaughin said in Vsnap’s post announcing the release of their mobile apps, “There is a widely felt, deep desire to have a more personal way to communicate with the folks that matter in our lives, and to have that tool be easy for both sender and recipient.”

I sat down with Vsnap’s Community Manager, Trish Fontanilla, for a chat to learn more. We discussed Vsnap’s history, some of the applications of the platform and their Vthankyou program from last fall that garnered a lot of support from local social media celebs. You can hear about that and more in the following video from our conversation:

As Trish alluded to in the video, the Vsnap team is walking the walk by creating original vsnaps for each new follower they gain on Twitter. See for yourself here. To read more about Vsnap, you can check out the Boston Globe’s “Start-up aims to be the Twitter of video.”
